Aria and Grace Keilbach, sisters and founders of Boonie Babies animal rescue, were driving through a quiet road on the island of Saipan when a dog suddenly jumped in front of their car.
Concerned, they stopped to check on her. They offered her food, but she seemed restless and uninterested. Instead of eating, she turned and walked toward the trees beside the road. Curious, the sisters decided to follow.

“I kept trailing behind her, and then she suddenly disappeared into the jungle,” Aria told The Dodo.
The sisters carefully followed her deeper into the forest, where she revealed her little secret—five tiny puppies, hidden away in the bushes. The mama dog had been struggling to care for them all alone in the wild.

Sadly, the puppies were in rough shape. Their bellies were swollen from worms, and their fur was crawling with fleas and ticks. It was clear they wouldn’t survive much longer without help.
Despite their condition, the puppies seemed to trust Aria and Grace right away.
“I tried walking back to the car for supplies, but they wouldn’t stop following me,” Aria said.

The sisters knew they had to take the puppies to safety. However, their mother was not ready to trust them. No matter how hard they tried, she wouldn’t let them come close. With heavy hearts, they made the tough choice to take the puppies and return for the mama later.
“We knew if we left them even for a day, they might not survive,” Aria said.

The next morning, they returned, hoping to find the mother dog. To their relief, she was still there. She ignored the food they offered—she only wanted to see her babies. As soon as Aria opened the car door, the mama dog jumped inside, ready to reunite with her little ones.

Back at the shelter, the moment she saw her puppies again, her tail wouldn’t stop wagging. The puppies were just as happy to have their mom back.
One by one, each puppy and their brave mother found loving forever homes.

Thanks to the mama dog’s courage in seeking help from two kind strangers, her little family is now safe, happy, and loved.
