Fred and Mary had just gotten married, but they did not have enough money to go on a honeymoon. So, they decided to spend their first night together at Fred’s parents’ house.
The next morning, Fred’s younger brother, Johnny, woke up and ate his breakfast. Before leaving for school, he asked his mother, “Are Fred and Mary awake yet?”
“No,” his mother replied.
Johnny started to say, “I think they—”
His mother quickly stopped him. “I don’t want to hear what you think! Go to school!”
At lunchtime, Johnny came home and asked the same question.
“Are Fred and Mary awake yet?”
His mother shook her head. “No.”
Johnny began again, “I think they—”
“Stop thinking and eat your lunch,” his mother snapped. “Then get back to school!”
Later that afternoon, Johnny returned home and asked once more, “Mom, are Fred and Mary awake now?”
“No,” she answered.
“Can I tell you what I think happened?” Johnny asked.
His mother sighed and finally said, “Fine. Tell me what you think.”
Johnny looked at her and said, “Last night, Fred came into my room looking for some Vaseline. I think I accidentally gave him my airplane glue!”
