When Charli and Cullen shared the news that they were expecting their first baby, they thought people would be happy for them. But instead of kind words, they were met with doubt and questions. Because both Charli and Cullen have dwarfism, many assumed they hadn’t thought through what it would mean to raise children.
“We spent years getting ready,” Charli says. “People acted like we just jumped into it without thinking.”
To clear up the misunderstandings, the couple turned to social media. Charli began posting on Instagram to show what their life was really like. She shared everything—from doctor visits and genetic counseling to preparing a nursery that fit their needs. Over time, followers watched as they welcomed their daughters, Tully and Tilba.
Both girls were also born with types of dwarfism, but Charli’s posts showed they were just like any other kids—running around, getting small cuts on their knees, and enjoying bedtime stories.
Their third pregnancy brought even more worries. There was a small chance their baby could inherit both parents’ conditions, which could lead to serious health issues. Waiting for the test results felt like forever. But when baby Rip was born healthy, the joy and relief were huge.
Now, Charli shares the ups and downs of everyday life: shopping with three kids, cuddling on the couch for movie nights, and dealing with the occasional toddler meltdown.
“We don’t want people to focus on our height,” Cullen says. “We want them to see the love we have for each other and our kids.”
Their story is a reminder that what really makes a family isn’t how people look—it’s how much they care for one another.
