A dog owned by Emma Mildwater has become popular locally after being seen with an Ipswich Town player during promotion celebrations. Emma took her dog, Teddy, a mix of French bulldog and chow-chow, to Isaacs on the Quay in Ipswich to celebrate the team’s promotion to the Premier League. A video of Teddy being carried by defender Harry Clarke has been watched more than 90,000 times online.
Emma, from Ipswich, said, “We had a great day at the game, and then this happened, making our day even better.” She and Teddy joined the celebrations at the waterfront bar after Ipswich Town secured promotion with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield. Emma was concerned about Teddy being in the way, so she picked him up. Harry Clarke saw them from the balcony and invited them down. Emma suggested taking Teddy to meet the team, which Harry did. The footballer asked about Teddy’s breed, as he was considering getting a chow-chow himself.
He even invited Teddy to join the team on Monday’s open-top bus parade, but Emma declined. Teddy has become famous, with people recognizing him and approaching Emma to ask if he’s the dog Harry Clarke was with. The family has created an Instagram page for Teddy to increase his fame. Ipswich-born Clarke, 23, has been celebrating with fans in various venues around town, leading to a new chant in his honor. Emma praised Clarke for his interaction with fans, describing him as fantastic and appreciative of the atmosphere.
