With a warm smile, she greets him, asking, “What do you want today, Mateo? What’s left for you?” She then picks a piece of bread from the basket and hands it to him. Mateo, ever so gentle, takes his treat and happily trots outside to enjoy his snack.
After sharing the video online, many viewers grew concerned, wondering if Mateo was a stray in need of care. Chavez quickly reassured them.
“Don’t worry, everyone! Mateo isn’t homeless—he was actually rescued and adopted by my neighbor,” she explained in a follow-up video. “He’s well cared for, loved, and even has a brother named Rocco.”
Despite his eager visits to the bakery, Mateo isn’t going hungry. In fact, he’s one of the most pampered pups around. The bakery staff adores him, always greeting him with affection and the occasional treat.
“He’s a sweetheart. We all love him here,” Chavez said. “We pet him, we feed him, and he’s always so grateful.”
