Joe had asked his buddy Bob to swing by after work and help out with building the backyard deck.
So Bob headed straight over once they clocked out.
As soon as they walked through the front door, Joe walked up to his wife, wrapped her in a warm hug, and told her how gorgeous she looked and how much he’d missed her all day.
Later, at dinner, Joe complimented every bite of the meal, thanked her with a kiss, and told her how lucky he felt to have her.
The next day, while hammering away on the deck, Bob shook his head and said, “Man, I’ve gotta say, I’ve never seen anyone dote on their wife like that.”
Joe laughed. “I started doing that about six months ago. It changed everything. Our relationship feels brand new again.”
Bob thought, Well, maybe it’s worth a shot.
That evening, he walked through his front door, wrapped his arms around his wife, kissed her, and said, “I love you so much, and you’re just incredible.”
Immediately, she broke down crying.
Completely baffled, Bob asked, “What’s wrong?”
Between sobs, she said, “This has been the worst day ever. Billy fell and hurt his leg, the washing machine flooded the whole laundry room, and now you come home acting all sweet—you’re clearly drunk!”
