Unfortunately, Lara faced heartbreak when she was returned by her adoptive families not once, but twice, within a short span of time. However, her unwavering hope that someone would recognize her true worth kept her spirits alive. And, as fate would have it, that someone turned out to be her foster dad.
Brian and Alex, experienced foster parents with Priceless Pets Rescue in California, took Lara into their care when she needed it most. At the time, Lara was battling a severe infection that resulted in the loss of both her eyes. This made her journey even more challenging as a special-needs pup.
Initially, Lara struggled to adjust to her new circumstances. She was shy, reserved, and needed time to adapt to her surroundings. But within a few weeks, she began to blossom. Her sweet, affectionate nature emerged, and she quickly warmed up to her foster family.
Despite her progress, Lara’s journey to finding a forever home was far from smooth. She experienced two failed adoptions, each time being returned to the shelter. When Brian learned about her predicament, he didn’t hesitate to step in. He and Alex decided to give Lara the permanent home she truly deserved.
“We fostered Lara for a few months. After two failed adoptions, she became a permanent member of the family,” Brian and Alex shared on Instagram.
When Brian went to pick her up after her second return, he was curious to see if she’d remember him. The moment he approached her kennel, Lara’s reaction was nothing short of heartwarming. She immediately recognized him, wagging her tail and showering him with cuddles.
“When we went to pick her up the day of her being returned from her second adoption, I figured she would remember me, but I was a little curious. And, thankfully, it went even better than I was anticipating,” Brian told Cuddle Buddies. Lara’s joy at reuniting with a familiar face was evident, and from that day forward, she never left Brian’s side.
Lara and Brian have been inseparable ever since. Although Lara loves meeting new people and making friends, her dad remains her favorite person in the world. “She’s definitely a daddy’s girl and has barely left my side since then,” Brian shared.
Now thriving in her forever home, Lara has adapted beautifully to life without sight. She navigates her California home with confidence, only occasionally bumping into things, which never dampens her playful spirit. Her owners even shared on Instagram, “A few people have asked how well Lara navigates the house. The short answer is she gets around home amazingly well, the occasional bump notwithstanding.”
In addition to her remarkable resilience, Lara has made numerous friends in her community. She delights in taking walks, playing with other dogs at the park, and embarking on exciting adventures with her family. Whenever she’s out with her dad, she transforms into a joyful, wiggly cuddle bug.
Today, Lara is living her best life. Despite the heartbreak and challenges she endured, she’s found a loving family that cherishes her unconditionally. Most importantly, she has the perfect dad who ensures she’s always surrounded by love and happiness.
