A Stranger’s Note Saved Me from Danger

I was finishing up at the self-checkout when I accidentally left my receipt behind. A woman quickly walked over, smiling as she handed it back. “You forgot this,” she said. I thanked her, grabbed my bags, and headed home.

Later, while unpacking the groceries, I noticed something unusual. On the back of the receipt, scribbled in rushed handwriting, were the words: “Check your tires. Mine were slashed in this parking lot.”

My stomach dropped. I bolted outside to look, and sure enough—one of my tires had been cut. I immediately called the police, who told me this wasn’t the first case. There had been a string of similar vandalism reports in the area.
