An elderly couple decided to treat themselves one evening and stopped by a McDonald’s for a simple meal together. After placing their order, the husband carefully unwrapped their burger, cut it neatly in half, and then divided the fries evenly between them.
A group of nearby college students watched the sweet gesture unfold. Feeling a little concerned, one of them approached the table and said, “Excuse me, sir, we’d be happy to buy you both another meal so you don’t have to share.”
The old man smiled kindly and shook his head. “Oh no, that’s very generous of you, but we share everything,” he said.
He then began eating his portion of the meal—half a burger and half an order of fries—while his wife sat quietly, hands folded, not touching her food at all.
After a few minutes, one of the students, unable to ignore it any longer, leaned over and asked gently, “Ma’am, are you sure you’re okay? Why aren’t you eating?”
The elderly woman smiled softly and said, “Oh, don’t worry dear. It’s not my turn yet—I’m waiting for the teeth.”
